ICFP 2024
Mon 2 - Sat 7 September 2024 Milan, Italy

ICFP strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment where people from different backgrounds and experiences can thrive around a shared passion for functional programming.

We host several events focused on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. You can register for any of these events during registration by marking the appropriate boxes, but this is not required for attendance. We hope to see you there! Everyone is welcome at any of these events.

These events include:

  • Networking and community building lunches for underrepresented minorities and members of the LGBTQ+ communities.
  • W@ICFP dinner for women in the ICFP community.
  • The SIGPLAN-M long-term mentoring lunch. This is for mentors and mentee’s of the SIGPLAN-M long term mentoring program to connect, or for people interested to learn about how others experience the program.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us,

The W@ICFP dinner aims to connect women in the ICFP community, including researchers, developers, faculty, post-docs and students. It is intended to celebrate achievements, small and big, and provide a low-pressure atmosphere to foster building one’s support group.

The dinner is on Wednesday evening starting at 7pm at the Big School café restaurant.

Please contact Ningning Xie for any specific questions.

There will be two lunches targeted specifically to underrepresented groups of the ICFP community. The goal of both lunches is to bring together members of these groups in order to building relationships and informally network.

LGBTQ@ICFP Lunch

Wednesday, Sep 4. This lunch will be held with the goal of bringing together members of the LGBTQ+ community and provide opportunities for networking and community building.

URM@ICFP Lunch

Thursday, Sep 5. This lunch is meant to bring together members of populations that have been historically underrepresented in the ICFP community, including women, African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. The goal of this informal lunch is to foster relationships, and promote informal networking. Contact Alejandro Russo for any specific questions.

The SIGPLAN Long-Term Mentoring Committee (SIGPLAN-M) organizes an international long-term mentoring program for programming languages researchers. The SIGPLAN-M lunch@ICFP is intended to bring together mentors and mentee’s of the program to connect and learn. It is also for anyone interested to learn more from the experiences of others and perhaps interested in joining the program in the future as a mentor or mentee.

The lunch is held on Tuesday, Sep 3, with tables set aside for the SIGPLAN-M lunch.
